We’re delighted to welcome Emma Purvis to The Event School London's talented teaching team as an Associate Lecturer in Festival and Event Management. With over 20 years of expertise in the industry, Emma brings an extraordinary wealth of experience in festival management, experience design, concept development, and creative ideation that will be invaluable to our students.
Emma’s impressive career spans across multi-arts programming for festivals and events, with a history of successful collaborations with high-profile clients in arts venues, festivals, experiential agencies, and immersive theatre companies.
A renowned freelance professional, Emma’s portfolio includes a roster of iconic festivals like The Secret Garden Party, Wilderness Festival, Lovebox, Citadel, Somersault, and Rock Oyster Festival.
Her deep involvement in launching and shaping these festivals has given her unique insight into what it takes to bring a new event to life, from establishing its identity to crafting programs that captivate and engage audiences.
Emma’s holistic approach to festival creation makes her an invaluable asset to our teaching team and our student experience. She has developed a refined understanding of the intricate relationships between branding, marketing, programming, production, and design, allowing her to create experiences where every element works together seamlessly.
Her background in thematic writing, concept invention, and narrative development is especially valuable, as she will share with students the skills needed to design events that tell stories and deliver memorable, authentic experiences.
Beyond her practical experience, Emma’s academic credentials are equally impressive. She holds a First-Class degree in Performance Making, with additional expertise in Scenographic Design and Dramaturgy, ensuring that each project she undertakes is crafted with a keen eye for theatricality and audience engagement. In addition to her freelance work, Emma has taught BA (Hons) Event Management at various universities and colleges, where she’s shared her knowledge with the next generation of event professionals.
Emma is also highly skilled in incorporating brand activations into a wide array of event environments, helping brands establish meaningful and relevant connections with their audiences. Her understanding of both the creative and strategic aspects of festival management will offer our students a rare and comprehensive perspective.
