Today’s #ThrowbackThursday highlights the contribution international event leader, Roger Hooker, has made to developing talent in the field of major sports event management.
The Event Delivery Director at ABB FIA FormulaE (Global), Roger has provided both inspiration and practical guidance to our students, in a series of virtual guest speaker sessions over the past two years.
One area we asked Roger to speak on was health, safety and risk assessment for events - a topic we felt students really needed to take seriously so they could meet their responsibilities as an event manager.
Roger offered examples of real-life scenarios of where attention to H&S (or lack of,) affected operations and/or event participants. Roger’s impact on the students was significant with many of them seeing event health, safety and risk assessment in a totally new light.
Roger also shared with our classes the importance that networking and forming positive relationships plays in developing a successful career in events. Again, our students took this on board, with many heading off after Roger’s sessions to update their LinkedIn profile and sign up for industry events!
Thank you Roger, from the team at The Event School London and from our student body, for taking the time to inspire a new generation of planners.
